Emma Tenayuca renowned civil rights and labor leader.  Terry Ybañez painted a mural in honor of Emma Tenayuca in 1995.

Emma Tenayuca was a courageous labor activist and educator

Can you imagine being so grounded in your convictions that by the age of 16 you are arrested for joining a picket line? Such was the life of Emma Tenayuca, a native of San Antonio's West Side born in 1916. She was a descendant of one of the original Spanish families to settle in San Antonio.
