San Antonio Public Art

San Antonio is graced with numerous examples of public art.  The most prominent style are murals painted on the sides of a variety of buildings, and many with a social message.  The quality of the work covers a wide spectrum of quality and messages.  The artists are individuals and groups, amateurs and professionals, and sanctioned and pirate.

I am neither an art critic or a social commentator; but I find these displays of public art interesting and indicative of San Antonio's unique character.  I'll leave it up to the viewer to assess value as he or she sees fit.  I will just be the presenter, although my editing will somehow leave an imprint on the interpretation.  I will not limit this photo-essay site to painted walls, albeit that is the preponderance.  This site will present anything that meets my loose criteria: visual media that adds to San Antonio's heritage and presents a message of positive value or commercial content that is adds to the visual flavor of San Antonio.  Some will even be pure graffiti that is eye-catching and portrays the tagger's message, that may be known only to the artist or the street.

I currently have over one hundred locations photographed, with over 700 pictures taken.  I have located many more and continue to find and photograph more regularly. Distance to North Pole

I have researched the background information for some of the locations featured in this web site.  If you have more information about the examples of Public Art shown in these pages please feel free to email me this information.  Or if you know of other examples of Public Art please let me know.  I can be contacted at warren60@satx.rr.com.
